In The Beginning...

Chuck and wife Lynne built their first home and moved in August of 1972 .  For Chuck that was the beginning of over 36 years and counting...building and renovation home of all shapes and sizes.  In the spring of 2007, their daughter Robyn, decided that building was indeed in her blood and joined the family business.

Our Continuing Story...

Charles (Chuck) Illsley, CHP

Chuck in addition to being a hands-on builder for over 36 years has a formal education in drafting-architectural from the Halifax Regional Community College.  Being able to design their own projects and having "the vision" enables Illsley Contracting Limited to create and build efficient and pleasing floor plans for the growing or shrinking family.  Illsley homes also offer you pleasing curb appeal, so you are not only happy inside your home but are proud of what people see on the outside...everything is in the right place and in the correct proportion.
Chuck has been a registered R2000 builder (Builder Number N-0015) since 1989 and is a strong believer in the R2000 way of building homes and its benefits, especially with the costs of energy today.  Let us create those benefits for you and your family.
In 1996 Chuck was awarded the "Outstanding Builder Member of the Year" by the Nova Scotia Home Builders' Association.
In May 1997 Chuck earned the designation of "CERTIFIED HOUSING PROFESSIONAL (CHP)" Registration #9753.
Chuck is constantly researching in books, magazines, on the web and attending courses/trade shows to keep up-to-date on the best way of doing things and on the new products coming to market that might be of interest and benefit to his customers.
In his limited spare time, Chuck enjoys biking, building furniture, bowling, skiing and is a great movie fan.

Robyn Illsley, B. Comm

Robyn has grown up with conversations of all the joys and sorrows of the construction industry being discussed at the supper table.  As she entered high school her summers and in-service days were spend on various job site helping out where ever she could...from the old standby of cleaning up the job sites to the ever popular spreading straw to keep the environment people happy.  During the spring R2000 Parade of Homes she was often found helping out at the model home open houses.
Robyn went on to university at Saint Mary's and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree...a double major in finance and marketing.  For a few years after graduation Robyn worked with a marketing company, a plumbing and electrical supplier as well as part-time for a land developer, gaining a wealth of experiences all related to different sectors of the building industry.  In the end...the hands on building seems to be deeply rooted and  Robyn joined Illsley Contracting Limited in the spring of 2007.  Robyn can be seen at the job sites learning the business "from the ground up".  In this business it really means from the ground up.  Robyn understands the importance of also being involved in organizations that support the building industry and is part of the Nova Scotia Home Builders' Womens' Council and a member of the Nova Scotia Home Builders, Central Nova, Marketing Committee.
In her limited spare time, Robyn has taken up running and has participated in several runs including the Bluenose Marathon, the Cape Breton 24 Hour Relay, The Johnny Miles Run and The Harvest Run just to name a few.  Indoor dodge ball and floor hockey keeps Robyn active during the colder weather.  Cooking, reading, photography, card making and getting together with friends fills in the balance for Robyn's free time.
